Country Club of Lansing Operations Update

As you know, decisions surrounding the COVID-19 health crisis are changing on a daily, and sometimes hourly, basis and we are certainly among the many operations that are having to adapt very quickly. The Board of Directors met again Tuesday, March 24 and implemented some new policies to adjust to this changing landscape.

As you know, last week the Board voted to close dining entirely after Gov. Whitmer's Executive Order to close in-house dining for bars and restaurants. Since that time, the staff at CCL have been working diligently to come up with take-out dining options. We are pleased to report that, beginning Wednesday, April 1, the Club will be accepting take-out orders that can be picked up on-site for dinner only. We will release detailed information, menus and pricing as soon as possible. We are very excited about being able to offer these options.

Just like any business, it will be a challenge for us until we can reopen fully. We humbly ask that when you consider where you aer going to be getting take-out from, that you keep the Club in mind when making these decisions.

When Gov. Whitmer released her "Stay at Home, Stay Safe" Executive Order, she ordered that all non-essential businesses be closed, while still allowing for carry-out restaurants to stay open, and allowing for outdoor exercise to occur. Unfortunately, it is unclear if golf courses could apply as outdoor exercise. The golf industry as a whole, including the Michigan Golf Alliance, the Michigan Golf Course Owners Association, the Golf Association of Michigan, the Michigan PGA, and others have sought official guidance from the Governor's office as to whether golf courses can stay open. As of the time of this writing, the have not seen that guideance and therefore, under the advice of our legal counsel, we must close the golf course at this time. The Board does not make this decision lightly, and if we receive clarification that we can reopen, then we will do so immediately.

In the meantime, because the Executive Order also states that non-essential businesses must be closed for basic minimal operations, there will not be golf staff in place during most times. Recognizing that many members have property on site that members may want to acces during the effective period of the Executive Order (until April 13), John Lindert has agreed to conduct his basic minimal operations on Thursday, March 26, from noon to 4 p.m. We ask that members approach the first tee and the golf staff will get your clubs and/or push carts. They will be placed outside of the first tee near the scoreboard area.

There are no pins on the greens at this time, and the tee markers have been removed as well. We are asking any members that choose to exercise as allowed by the Executive Order, to also abide by the terms of the order itself.

Thank you for your patience during these trying times. The staff at CCL has been working incredibly hard during this time, and we appreciate all of their efforts. As soon as this crisis passes, the Club will be fully operational and ready to welcome all the members back. Certainly, we will all be ready to get out of the house and back into the dining room and onto the golf course after this!
